ECHR STOP IN JUSTICEECHR STOP IN JUSTICE

MISSION

 Why are we doing this?

European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) turns a blind eye to the gross human rights violations committed by the Erdoğan regime in Turkey and idly watches as it chokes on the victims on a daily basis.

Justice Delayed is Justice Denied!

The Court has had several opportunities to establish the facts regarding these violations in Turkey and compel the regime to respect the basic tenets of European Convention of Human Rights. However, it failed in the execution of its duties and rendered incompetent especially regarding the systemic violations of the rights of Hizmet Movement affiliates. As the victims amount up to hundreds of thousands, the violations constitute clear crimes against humanity.

Who are we doing this for & What do we aim?

On 24th June, 2022, more than 500 people from all over Europe will come together in Strasbourg to stand in solidarity with those who have been silenced in Turkey. We will raise our voice and speak for them.

We will be there to remind the European Court of its honorable duties and ask the following questions:

We, a broad variety of people from all over Europe, stand in solidarity with the victims and ask the following questions:

  • How does the Court, the ultimate protector of human rights, explain its obvious lack of commitment to the core values of the European Convention?
  • How on earth the ECHR adopts judgments with serious shortcomings and leaves the victims to the mercy of an authoritarian regime that oppresses them in the first place? Needless to say, the Court risks losing its reputation as the supreme guarantor of human rights and democratic values in Europe. It is heartbreaking that we cannot anymore say, “il y a des juges à Strasbourg!”
  • How can it be justified that the Court displays a discriminatory policy of prioritization and constantly postpones or disregards the complaints coming from the members of Hizmet Movement?

Perhaps it is very timely to remember that the lowest place in Dante ́s Inferno belongs to those who remain silent on the face of oppressors.
